Someone once told me that you shouldn’t say you were proud of something good in your life. You were to say you were blessed, because pride was a sin.
We have been very blessed in the last several weeks. Locally, we were voted Best Printing Company by the readers of the South Hill Enterprise. In this Reader’s Choice Award, it’s significant to note that the participants take time to consider all their options. I’ve seen the voting ballot; this is no small feat. We appreciate every vote and hope to always live up to this high standard.

Next, Pat Folio called to say that she had been awarded another MarCom award for work we had collaborated on for The Olfaction Bakery. MarCom is shorthand for the International Competition for Marketing and Communication Professionals. Pat runs her own one-woman show as a small marketing firm, and has a laser focus on her end game. Her results are brilliant. This is Pat’s second recognition in the MarCom Awards, and we are so pleased to have worked with her on both. We’re rooting for Pat to go for a third next year!
Then, last year we joined a regional printing association, Print and Graphic Arts of the Mid-Atlantic (PGAMA). In the beginning of March, we were notified that seven of the pieces we entered had been recognized as finalists in their Excellence in Print Awards. We traveled to Greenbelt, MD for the gala and managed to survive the GPS taking us through downtown DC at the height of rush hour.
We arrived at the event for the social hour and located our work displayed beautifully among other printers from Pennsylvania to Virginia. We took great pleasure seeing the tournament book for South Hill’s Dixie Baseball State Tournament on that wall, and our hometown girl Teena Lurlene showed very well with her Whack Pack of Teena and Mean Lurlene cards. If you don’t have your pack you need to get one as fast as you can. One of our favorite charities, Lake Country SPCA, had the post card invitation to their annual fantastic fundraiser Stone Soup Dinner displayed right next to our long time customer Parker Oil Company.
As we sat down to dinner, the award part of the program began. As each category came up, all the finalists were listed. When Dogwood Graphics was called to receive a Best In Category for Brunswick High School, and then Angus Farms, and then Kenbridge Construction Company we were reminded how blessed we are to work in such a wonderful community with so many dedicated people. Thank you to everyone that lets us be a part of your workday and your events.
